Day 4, Part I: A Visit to Mondsee

We had an early start this morning as we left Vienna behind and journeyed west towards Munich. Unfortunately it was quite foggy on our morning drive so our views were limited.

After about 4 hours on the bus (with one stop) we left the highway -A1- to visit a pretty little lake town called Mondsee.












Fortunately for us the clouds broke and the sun came out!




The major reason we visited Mondsee is this church, see the two towers?













Now why is this church important? Maybe you remember a little movie called "Sound of Music" - do you?

Well, the wedding scene was filmed in this church. It recently underwent renovations so it is much brighter than in the movie.

It was beautiful inside and out and we enjoyed some free time before moving on to Salzburg.
